You Can Only Touch Your Own Nipples!!! Crazy by Ashford - July 16, 2015July 7, 20154 It’s not uncommon to witness my 4 YO playing with his toys and see him pick up an object, say a block, smack himself in the forehead with it and then return it to it’s place. He will then pick up another object, for example a stuffed animal, smack himself in the head with it and then immediately hurl it across the room. Is this just kids being weird? No. No it’s not. It’s my 4 YO employing one of the weirdest rules we have in my house. Here’s how it goes: Before you throw something in the house you must first hit yourself in the head with it. If it hurts, it is not an acceptable object to throw. You see, kids
TACO TUESDAY: Thai Chicken Tacos Biscuits by Ashford - July 14, 20150 This one is a pretty easy one. You can use store bought peanut sauce (and I like to mix it with a little Sweet Chili Sauce) or you can use the recipe provided. Either way it turns out great!! Enjoy!!!
White Knuckle Nights: Separation Anxiety and Sleep Away Camp Crazy by Ashford - July 9, 2015July 6, 20153 As we piled into our SUV and started down the dusty road I began to panic. My mind was whirling out of control. I stared straight ahead and tried to act normal. It took me about 10 minutes to even realize the hubs was trying to talk to me. I was locked inside myself going a million miles an hour. We had just dropped off our baby girl at sleep away camp for the very first time. I had done my homework. I had read the Camper Handbook cover to cover at least 5 times. I had met with the Director for about an hour. I even hiked through the woods and surveyed the grounds, the cabins, the craft room, the
TACO TUESDAY: Mini Tacos Biscuits by Ashford - July 7, 2015July 6, 20150 These are super fun and super easy for tiny hands to manipulate. Feel free to get creative and mix them up!! First brown your ground beef. Fill the scoops with a bit of refried beans. Then top with the beef and onion mixture. Now for the queso dip. Cut the block of cheese into 1 inch cubes. Melt queso in a small pot over low heat. Add the can of green chiles. Then drizzle cheese over the top and bake for 10-12 minutes. Finally top with sour cream and salsa and enjoy!!
Mean Comments and Mean People Featured On by Ashford - July 6, 20150 Recently I wrote an article that received quite a bit of backlash. In fact it spurred a whole community of moms to start a "hate thread" about me. Today I am talking about what I went through after reading their comments. Click to read the whole article.
“You so fancy” Risotto Biscuits by Ashford - July 2, 2015June 22, 20150 Guest post by Mary Katherine of Mom Babble I really love risotto. I love that it’s a carb. I love that it’s affordable. And I love that it seems to grow as you cook it like one of those Dollar Tree Sponge Animals. It’s also rice…but so much more impressive. “I’m making rice for dinner.” No thanks. “I’m making risotto for dinner.” Heck yah! I’ll be right over! So tonight I’m excited to share my absolute favorite risotto recipe. It’s fresh, flavorful, and well..it’s not exactly a dry dish. That’s right–bust out the white wine, ladies–it’s time to cook! Risotto Margherita Serves 3-4. Unless your husband eats like mine. You’ll need: - I bag of Virgo Arborio rice - 1 leek - Fresh basil - 1 box of chicken stock - 1 small tub of cherry/grape tomatoes - 1 tub
Crossing the Line Featured On by Ashford - July 1, 20150 It was one of those spiraling out of control situations. You know where you forget who you are and who they are and you say things you probably shouldn’t. And then when she’s sobbing in her carseat you see how little she is and the guilt seeps in. It’s a feeling worse than any other. Read the whole article.
TACO TUESDAY: BBQ Pork Southern Tacos Biscuits by Ashford - June 30, 2015July 1, 20155 It's no secret that I am southern and therefore have a deep love of soul food. So it should be no surprise that it only took me one week to figure out how to incorporate BBQ into a taco recipe. When I first made these the hubs looked at me warily but after the first bite he was hooked. Trust me ya'll, these are amazing. I love my crockpot. The best thing about the crockpot is that it cuts down on my active cooking time (which is important with 3 little ones running around). Start out by throwing your pork tenderloin in the slow cooker and dump the whole bottle of BBQ sauce over it. Cook it on high for 3-4
That one time you sent your boss a naked selfie Crazy by Ashford - June 29, 2015July 3, 20150 This post was originally featured on Say It With a Bang Hold up and suspend your judgement for a hot minute while I tell you how this is even possible. Because trust me it is. Let’s take a walk down memory lane to when you were first married (in your early twenties perhaps). This was circa 2005 BK (Before Kids). We lived with reckless abandon. We were wild and free and happy. We were spontaneous and dare I say….even fun. I had won a trip to Cancun and we decided to schedule it on our first anniversary. We would make this one to remember. We stayed at one of those luxury all inclusive resorts [read: free drinks]. We were thrilled when we arrived at
