TACO TUESDAY: BBQ Pork Southern Tacos Biscuits by Ashford - June 30, 2015July 1, 20155 It's no secret that I am southern and therefore have a deep love of soul food. So it should be no surprise that it only took me one week to figure out how to incorporate BBQ into a taco recipe. When I first made these the hubs looked at me warily but after the first bite he was hooked. Trust me ya'll, these are amazing. I love my crockpot. The best thing about the crockpot is that it cuts down on my active cooking time (which is important with 3 little ones running around). Start out by throwing your pork tenderloin in the slow cooker and dump the whole bottle of BBQ sauce over it. Cook it on high for 3-4
That one time you sent your boss a naked selfie Crazy by Ashford - June 29, 2015July 3, 20150 This post was originally featured on Say It With a Bang Hold up and suspend your judgement for a hot minute while I tell you how this is even possible. Because trust me it is. Let’s take a walk down memory lane to when you were first married (in your early twenties perhaps). This was circa 2005 BK (Before Kids). We lived with reckless abandon. We were wild and free and happy. We were spontaneous and dare I say….even fun. I had won a trip to Cancun and we decided to schedule it on our first anniversary. We would make this one to remember. We stayed at one of those luxury all inclusive resorts [read: free drinks]. We were thrilled when we arrived at
Two Wrongs CAN Make a Right Crazy Home by Ashford - June 26, 2015June 26, 20150 You know they say that two wrongs can't make a right but I wholeheartedly disagree. I'm up on Say It With a Bang talking about the Biscuit to my Crazy. Click here to read the whole article.
Healthy(er) Hot Pockets Biscuits by Ashford - June 25, 2015June 22, 20155 Guest post from Amanda Decker of This Might Be Awkward In this article you'll learn how to make a healthier alternative to store-bought hot pockets. A filling meal the whole family will love! I filled mine with stir-fry veggies, rice, and mozzarella cheese. What You'll Need: For the crust- 2 cups baking mix (I used Pioneer) 2/3 cup shortening 3 large eggs 1/2 cup ice cold water (add more water a tbsp at a time if dough is too dry) 1 tsp salt (you can add other spices to your dough like rosemary or thyme for an Italian style crust.) For the filling- 1 packet boil-in-bag rice 1 bag frozen stir fry veggies 2 cups mozzarella cheese (shredded) garlic powder onion powder salt pepper olive oil What? MAKE the crust?!? Pssshhhh. For those of you who are hating on this
TACO TUESDAY: Chicken Crockos Tacos Biscuits by Ashford - June 23, 2015July 3, 20157 So I have a 4 YO boy and a 6 YO girl. What does that mean? My house is overrun with legos of all sorts and colors. It also means that in any given week we watch "The Lego Movie" no less than 8,637 times. (Ok maybe I exaggerate a bit but it sure seems like that.) So not only do I have the "Everything is Awesome" theme song playing in my head nonstop but I am always met with a request for Taco Tuesdays. So here's my goal for the summer: To have Taco Tuesday every week. Today I'm going to start with a fairly tame and run of the mill recipe but I imagine things will get awfully creative by
“Harebrained” Crazy by Ashford - June 16, 20152 “Do you want to do a book review for me?” "It’s 262 pages. It’s a collection of short stories.” I stared blankly at the text message that had just come through on my phone. I was sitting on the toilet in a public restroom at a random fast food joint. I was on the road, yet again, for work. I was honored, thrilled, excited, and terrified all at one. I have never written a book review before. Hell, I probably haven’t even read a book in it’s entirety since my first child was born 6 years ago. But I couldn’t shake the awe of this awesome opportunity that had been laid in my lap. “Absolutely!!” I replied my hands shaking as I fumbled to
Buying Light Bulbs: Not My Brightest Idea Crazy by Ashford - June 11, 20151 I was totally confused as I began replaying the last 30 minutes frame by frame in my head. Everything seemed in place until I got to the point when I was angrily talking to my sister about how expensive the light bulbs were and was trying to close the liftgate on my car. The Unforseen Consequences of Shark Week Crazy by Ashford - June 8, 20151 Guest post by Gina Ballentine of Stage Too I took my girls swimming at the local Y this Saturday in an effort to get some of their energy out and for me to burn a calorie or two. My oldest is a little fish and my youngest, well she loves her water wings. We got there and thankfully the water was not too cold. I personally hate cold water and my kids have -2% body fat so they turn purple and shake within 5 minutes of being in 85 degree water. I, on the other hand, am insulated like a walrus so I never turn purple, instead I just bitch the entire time that my blubber is cold. Of course the girls would
20 minute wings Biscuits by Ashford - June 4, 2015June 4, 20150 So I spent my college years slinging wings at a mediocre restaurant (no...not Hooters). After spending years working there I vowed I would never again eat wings. Then I had kids and I learned the importance of food small enough for tiny hands. So here I am almost 15 years later (hey- I said almost) slinging wings yet again. This is so ridiculously easy. Why would you ever go out and buy these when you can make them at home in 20 min? First divide your wings into dishes to marinate. Then cover with the sauces. I used BBQ (for the kids) and Thai Peanut (for the adults). Turn to coat all sides and reserve about 1/4 cup to brush with later. Marinate for at
